How much should I offer him?

After a while of searching I have finally found the classic car I want and it is close to me. I am looking at a 1967 Chevrolet Impala 4 door Sedan. the add says as followed:

4 door, 283 V8, auto, ps, pb, pewter w/black interior, excellent condition. 85,960 miles $9700 obo.

What should i offer him because he says OBO. I want to get it for as cheap as possible without him declining.

Unless this car is in like new condition I would say it is nowhere near the $9700 mark. It is probably worth around the $6,000 to $7,000 mark.

You are the one that has to decide what you would be willing to pay for it. There are other Impalas out there. Start off offering him a lower amount and then work up until you reach your set limit. Now you have to act serious with each offer and remind him you have the cash right now. If he has had it on the market for a bit the chances are more in your favor than if he has not.

I would suggest doing a little more research and making sure this is the one you want!
