What is Airbrush Tanning?

There are many ways to get a tan without the damaging effects of the sun.  What is airbrush tanning and how is it better than other tanning methods?

Getting a golden tan anytime of the year is important for many people; having carefully bronzed skin is seen as attractive and makes you feel better about yourself.  However, getting a tan the old fashioned way-through long term sun exposure-is rarely practical; it's time consuming, it damages your skin and for people who burn easily, it's useless.  This is why many people turn to beauty salons for artificial tanning.  There are many ways to get a ‘false' tan, but one of the best ways is through airbrush tanning.

Airbrush tanning uses a type of chemical called dihydroxyacetone (DHA) which gradually stains the dead skin cells a darker color, giving you a darker color.  Airbrush tanning uses a spray like tool to cover your whole body faster and though you can do it yourself, it's more practical to do it a beauty salon so you won't miss any spots and so you can use the very best products without having to track them down yourself.  Airbrush tanning at a salon is also a lot faster and safer since you won't have to worry about your face or the soles of her feet or hand palms; staining these areas is too easy to do if you do it yourself and it makes you look dirty, not tanned.

Airbrush tanning is far safer than using the sun or using tanning beds.  Airbrush tanning does not expose your skin to dangerous UVA or UVB rays which means that you cut down on your chances of contracting skin cancer, moles, sunburns, and premature aging.  Airbrush tanning is far safer to use on your skin and as long as you are careful about moisturizing, you stay away from exfoliating products and you make sure not to go swimming every day, it will last quite a long time; long enough for any special event or weekend at the beach.  Airbrush tanning is also fairly affordable; usually under fifty dollars a session and you get a perfect tan, the time to make sure it sticks and information on how to make it last as long as possible.

Keep in mind that you will still have to do things like wear sun block and make sure that you use moisturizer at least twice a day to protect your skin and lengthen the life of the tan.  A false tan is not going to protect you from sunburn or even help you tan more; it's simply a stain on your skin that looks as though you spent hours in the sun without the worrying side effects.

Airbrush tanning is a great way to get a tan ready for the summer or looked tanned even in the dead of winter.  It's a fairly quick and affordable treatment and it can last a few weeks as long as you are careful.  If you want a beautiful tan anytime of year without all of the damage to your skin, then try airbrush tanning from your local beauty salon.  You'll be thrilled with the results.

How well do the colors brown & tan show up in a tattoo?

I am wanting to get a tattoo done but I'm worried about how well a mostly brown and tan tat would look. It's going to be pretty big and on my upper arm. Do brown shades look ok or come out grainy? The few I have seen that have some brown in them look streaked and more black/grey than dark brown.

I already know my body has problems with holding some colors. White is a main one. I just had angel/devil duckie tats done on my wrists last Monday. The angel one of course had a lot of white and blue in it but the white has already faded a bit since peeling. It's almost none existant. When my tat guy did it he said he wasn't sure how well white would show on my skin tone but oh well. So is life.

Any of you have tats with a lot of brown in it? How has it held up for you?

Well the tattoo I have with brown in it isn't that big, but the color has stayed pretty vibrant. It's a darker brown (it's a branch of a cherry blossom) and it has yet to fade at all. the white on the other hand did fade slightly, as did the red. But I have heard that red is one of the harder colors to keep from fading, and white. I haven't heard anything of brown fading though from my pals, it's all about how your body's chemistry takes to the ink.
