The Difference between Soft Cameras and Hard Camera Cases

Photography can be an expensive hobby. The Hard Camera Case

Hard camera cases are made out of injection molded plastic which give you a hard and stable case for your cameras. They can effectively keep your camera safe, even when you are in travel. Without the right solid case, it can be very risky to check in your camera because you will never know how your luggage will be handled when loaded and unloaded from the plane.

But the downside to using hard camera cases is that they can be a bit bulky inside your luggage. The best way to do away with all that waste of luggage space would be to simply get the best fitting hard shelled case that can house your camera during transit.

The Soft Camera Case

Statistically, more photographers use soft shell cases today compared to the hard ones because they can take in practically any shape of your camera unit. They are also very easy to pack and store. Soft shelled cases are practically lighter and are more comfortable to carry around than the rigid hard camera cases.

But on the downside, the soft shelled cases are not recommended to use during travel, especially when you need to check in your luggage at the airport. If yours is a soft case luggage too, then there is a very big risk of damage. The solution to this would be to get a hard shelled luggage instead or to simply carry it as a hand luggage on the plane.

It all really depends on you and your destination. If you really want to make sure of your camera's safety, then you can simply invest on both soft camera and hard camera cases and use each one according to your destination. If you love your camera and your hobby that much, then make sure that these items you buy are top quality to make it worth the investment.

Can you think of a cute idea for a camera case.?

I want to make a camera case for my compact camera, my sewing machine is down though. What are some other cute ideas I could use as a camera case.

I crocheted mine from Lion Brand Suede (I got for $1 at Ollies!!!!). I just made a very simple square bag and threaded a chain through for a drawstring.

You could always handsew something, if you are talented enough. I can't hand sew straight to save my life.

Or maybe use iron on fabric adhesive and then baste stitch to secure?
