I am just curious..?

Usually I never even would of thought of checking the expiration date, but I saw it at the corner of my eye right while I was walking out with the bag and the food was over a month old. (This was merrick dog food)
Turns out almost their whole entire stock of Merrick was old.

So, my question is: Do you ever check the expiration date on the back of the dog food bag?
