heeelp! backpack for grade 9 girl, best answer!?

okay so im a girl going into grade 8. & i really want one of those classic looking messenger bags, not with like fabric more material if that makes sense. in gray, brown, or black.. maybe army green. im only walking 5 mins at best to get to school & back & i will only have 4 duotangs & a pencil case in my bag so please don't say i shouldn't get a messenger bag. now i normally don't care what people think but going into 9th grade i don't want to seem like im trying to hard or am weird or something because of my bag which believe it or not people actually look at. so i should i go with this bag instead or the messenger bag (second link) please help & be nice, i want your honest opinion though not just what i want to hear..

grade 9* oops

they both are cute bags, but the first one is very common and a lot of people are starting to buy that style so unless you want to walk in school and find someone else with the same bookbag, I wouldn't go with that one.

the second one is okay but it looks kind of small and it reminds me of what my grandma would use =X
