Handmade Paper Flowers for a Baby Shower

Making a large bouquet using pinks, blues, purples, greens, and other pastel colors for the mom to be is a beautiful gift she can take home with her and set in the nursery.

You can also make her a little flower basket filled with baby items such as; baby lotion, body wash, a few wash clothes and diaper rash cream. Use a round box (like a deep hat box) cover the box with multi colored strips of crepe paper. Just cut thin strips of the crepe paper and attach them to the box with clear drying glue. Use any color you would like inside the box to cover the cardboard. Decorate the outside of the box with an assortment of colored flowers with or without the stems.

Make a flower mobile to hang above the baby’s crib. Of course this will just be a decoration and will need to be removed once the baby is old enough to reach it. It will certainly brighten up the nursery the first couple of months.

You can also make handmade flowers and attach them to a photo album for each guest to take home and eventually put the baby’s first picture in. Making mom a blank flowered scrapbook to put pictures in and write little notes about the baby is another wonderful idea. This gift idea is not only particle but thoughtful and the new mom will love adding photos and notes to the scrapbook as her baby grows into a toddler, child and eventually teenager! Just make sure you get a book that is very large or one that pages can be added to. Add a small stem less flower to each page. I recommend a different color or alternating colors of pinks and purples for girls and blues and greens for boys.

Here's a recent hat that I did.

I'm thinking of making a bigger one for my 3 y/o niece and one sans flower for her 5 year old brother. My husband said that kids that age don't wear hats, especially not the boy and not to bother. What do you think? Do your boys wear knit hats in the winter? Or do you think my sis-in-law will not like them?

I'm...old enough. LOL If some one gave me knit stuff for my kids or myself I'd/we'd wear them. For starters some one put in time and thought to make those for us. My oldest may not opt for the scarf but he's into hats (thank god, my child, odds are he'd be looking at a lot of ear infections, like his mom did :s). My other two are still young enough that they don't put up a fight when I bundle them for the cold. I actually knit my now sister inlaw a scarf the first year I gave her a gift. I had NEVER finished a knitting project in my life before that and she just loved it. Hand made gifts are wonderful. I love them
