Endura Flap dog doors versus Mud flap dog doors

 

Last year a friend from work told me that he was in need of a dog door for his new house. He knew that I had a website that specialized in the Endura Flap pet doors but he thought that the products were to expensive. He informed me that he could design his own for a fraction of the cost and that it would work just as well. I inquired as to what he was going to use to make the flap and he proudly stated that he came up with a brilliant idea to use a mud flap! "It will be great, just you wait and see" was his next statement. I thought to myself "WOW" , a mud flap dog door on a half million dollar house. I can just see the neighbors gathering around to compliment him.

Two or three weeks later, I inquired on how his progress was coming along. He told me that he had the hole cut in the wall and had not yet picked up a mud flap. I can see him now stopped on I 90 snagging one off a truck from somewhere in North Dakota that advertises L & L Trucking or with Montana Big Sky Country stamped on it.

A month or so after he started this dog door endeavor he completed his dog door installation. I was truly happy for him. After researching my website, he too had included a magnet on the bottom that holds pretty good as long as the wind does not blow. He went on and on about how enjoyable the project had been. I told him how happy I was for him and proud that he had been diligent in getting his project finished.

To each his own. If you want a hole in your wall with a mud flap covering it, then so be it. The one downfall on this door is the smudged bottom right corner where my dogs nose is placed to push the flap open. A small amount of cleaner to return the flap to its once clear flap. I wonder how much elbow grease would be needed to get my friends door looking new again?

where can i buy a front door with a cat flap?

can anyone tell me where i can buy a front door with cat flaps in the uk allready installed,if i buy a new front door and then add the cat flap after the warrenty on the door is void,i really need to buy a new front door as the one that i have is rubbish

You can go to any local hardware store, and tell them you want a door with a cat flap, or a small doggie door, and they'll take you to pick out a door, and they'll make one with a flap.

Or you can find someone that's handy with a saw, and ask them if they can make you one. I don't really know much about jigsaws and hacksaws andsuch, but I could easily make one. All you have to do is have the right saw, and measure out the flap you want, but out that part of the door, attatch the flap, whatever it's made out of, and put the hinges on, and you're done. I wouldn't worry about the warrenty, unless you have wild friends, wild parties, enimies who would break down the door, or alot of nice stuff to encourage burglars. lol
