Can I put standard backs on my piercing studs 2 weeks after having them pierced?

I changed my piercing studs 2 days ago from stainless steel to gold studs because the SS studs irritated my ears. We put back the Stainless backs and they seem to be causing a problem with my ears. Would it be OK to change them for a normal pair of gold backs or is there a risk sleeping with standard backs on the studs
