How to Care for an Authentic Designer Bag

Tips on cleaning your designer handbag are –

1. Leather purses, handbags, bag and totes are manufactured from finished leather such as alligator.  They need to be cleaned at least once a year with saddle soap.  You can apply with a moist clean cloth.  Then wipe the bag dry and then use a leather moisturizer and protectant.    Use will need another moist clean cloth to remove the conditioner.
2. Straw handbags.   To remove dirt and debris from a straw purse it is best to use a vacuum cleaner on the lowest setting and place a nylon stocking over the end of the hose to avoid damaging the straw.  It is best to use a fabric towel or cotton swab to apply undiluted laundry soap on the soiled areas.  Then using another clean damp towel to remove moisture.  Allow the bag to air dry.  Warm water is best to use as hot water may warp the straw.  Alternatively,  if the straw is very firm on your bag you can use a fabric protector to help protect your bag.  Don't use the straw bag until the coating has dried completely to avoid damaging your clothes.
3. Material handbags. Whenthe bag is new it may be best to spray a fabric protectant before using.Should be cleaned by professionals.If the bag is not too dirty it may be possible to clean your bag yourself.  If you do decide to clean your material bag it would be advisable to test the cleaning product on a section of the bag where it will not be seen.  Possibly underneath or in a fold of the bag.  You may need to use an upholstery cleaner for bags that cannot be washed.
