Home Business Tips - Are You Standing on the Shoulders of Mentors & Coaches?

As adult learners we expect many times to be able to "get it" right off the bat.  Why do we do that to ourselves?  Learning a new skill is a process, no matter what it is you are learning you will not be able to achieve all the skills immediately. 

You need a vision that is strong and emotional, that is what will keep you going when the challenges and crises show up.  My "Why" as my strategic business coach John Di Lemme calls it is very powerful and as it comes true it becomes even more powerful.  My husband Don and I will be sponsoring 1,000 children with Plan Canada, right now we are at 6.  As the pictures arrive in the mail for each newly sponsored child our commitment level rises. This is a very powerful launching pad and without it things would be hard.

Borrow from the promise of the future.  This will allow you to engage in the action of today.  Throughout your home business building journey you will come across many voices of disempowerment and negative influences.  Don't listen to them.  Hire yourself a coach or find a mentor.  Learning a new skill can be challenging enough, find someone who has done what you already want to do and learn from their mistakes.

I just had an extremely good example of that around writing articles.  I am learning from Jeff Herring and he said do not submit articles on the weekend, write them yes but wait until Monday to submit them.  Now he has done what I want to do so I had simply been following that advice.  Last Friday my article was not finished first thing in the morning and I had to wait until lunch time to submit it.  That unfortunately was not enough time for the EzineArticles reviewers to take a look at it that day.  I thought oh well, it will be published on Monday.

Monday came along, I posted my 3 articles from the weekend and just like my teacher said the articles that I posted on Monday were published before the one on Friday.  My guess is that it is likely to to the fact that the Friday article is now at the bottom of the pile.  It does not matter, what matters is the advice from your coach or mentor.  Whom ever you choose, listen to their advice and do what they tell you.

With a coach or mentor you will be able to positively affect the negative voices inside your head.  You will be able to turn down the volume and turn down the speed.  Very often that negative voice inside your head, (your programming) can be your worst enemy.  Your coach will be able to give you methods and techniques to empower yourself to turn up the positive voices!

How do I make a small deer shoulder taste better because I want to make it into sausage, too.?

I was given a small front shoulder off of a whitetail deer today. It is frozen, too.

I guess after the meat is taken off the bone, I'll have about three to five pounds of meat. I want to make a slightly spicey sausage out of it. Any suggestions before I waste some quality meat. This is the first time I've made venison sausage.

You are correct in deboning, you also need to remove as much of the white leader/membrain as you can, using a flay knife to trim (like flaing a fish). A little will not hurt, to much will just clog the grinder. Use your best judgment.
Here are 2 of my recipes. I hope you enjoy them as much as we do!
We only use the front shoulder meat for sausage and barbecue.

These are time tested recipes from my GRANDMOTHER!
We have been processing our own Deer and other wild game since the 1960's.

Easest to make

Breakfast Deer Sausage
3 pounds ground deer
1 pound ground pork
1-1/2 tablespoon coarse salt
1-1/2 teaspoon rubbed sage
1-1/3 teaspoon rubbed summer savory
1-1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1-2/3 teaspoon ground marjoram
1-1/3 teaspoon ground black pepper

Mix well, and form into patties.
Note; If you use a vac-n-seal packing system the patties will last a long time.

A little more work but worth it!

Kentucky Deer Sausage
3 pounds deer
1 pounds pork butt, cut up with fat included
5 teaspoons salt
4 teaspoons ground sage
2 teaspoons ground pepper
1/2 teaspoon cloves or
1 teaspoon ground nutmeg (if desired)
1 teaspoon granulated sugar

Thoroughly mix the seasonings, and spread it over the cut-up deer-pork butt. Grind the whole quantity through the fine plate of your meat grinder.

If you are stuffing the meat into casings do so immediately after grinding. The sausage should be soft enough to pack tightly into the casings without adding cold water.

To make bulk sausage that will slice and fry without crumbling, add a scant half cup of cold water to each 4 pounds ground, seasoned sausage and knead with hands until the meat becomes sticky and dough-like. Pack tightly into molds or pans and chill before slicing.

Note: Use a vac-n-seal system to package amounts you want, freeze, will last longer. also you need to do this in a cooler room or a roon colder than normal living temps.
