Should I Buy Windows Vista?

I Currently have Windows XP Home, but I was thinking of getting Windows Vista Home Premium edition because of the new look, features and the built-in Windows Media Center that I can use for my Xbox 360 but I've encountered a problem. I have lots of software on my computer that I don't know will continue to work on Windows Vista. I have games like Resident Evil 4, GTA III, and The Sims Deluxe Edition. I also have software like CCleaner, LimeWire, DivX Player, VLC Media Player, TVersity, Norton 360, Microsoft Enterprise 2007, and also Yahoo! and MSN Messenger. I was wondering if I switched to Vista, will most of these programs no longer work? I would greatly appreciate help and please do not leave any one or two word answers that will waste part of my life reading. A good, true, and detailed answer will receive 'Best Answer.' Thank you for your help! =)
I have an HP computer with 512mb of Ram, 516 Intel Pentium 4 Processor running at 2.94GHz.

I am using Windows Vista Ultimate..
Because w/ Ultimate you have all the features of Vista...
Also if you had allot of software you may want to see if they are compatible w/ Vista.

- Based on that software you have i would say it would work well on vista.
If you have like wireless network card/adapters or something hardware related.. you may want to check via Yahoo if they are compatible.

Also just to let you know windows vista installer comes w/ a converter. Lets you move your old windows xp too, windows Vista ...
After the first few days of upgrading to vista.. you may see your computer slow down..
But what vista does is, gets used to your daily activitys on Vista and then adjusts it self for performance..
Meaning it will go back to normal and act nice :]
