Mountain Biking Shoes?

I'm looking for a pair of mountain bike friendly shoes. The specs. that I am looking for is as follows:

1) They are for a flat pedal, NOT clipless

2). They need to be somewhat water resistant, so i can wash them clean when I get back from a muddy ride.

3). I don't want them to be flashy colors, black is fine.

4). The main thing is the water Resistance, I really want to be able to wash them, but have them dry somewhat quickly, so maybe something that vents. I was thinking leather for being water resistant?

Thanks for all the suggestions everyone. The main reason why I thought water resistant is from watching seasons when Steve Peat is washing his shoes after that muddy ride in the UK.

i personally do not like to wear clip in pedals for downhill rides. i like them for road and cross country but downhill i wear skate shoes. i currently wear some DC's all of my riding buddies do somewhat the same except one he wearsclip ins. bue we all use skating shoes or bmxing shoes. mine have leather all on the outside and the normal shoe material on the inside. go to a skate shop and look around at what they have. that will be your cheapest easiest bet. they do make mtb shoes that are flat footed but all that ive ever seen for sale and on people have been a little too flashy for my likings but they do have a little more around the foot padding and thicker soles. i have never or heard of someone tearing their foot up in a crash because their shoe wasnt strong enough
