I am painting canvas to make in to purses, should I seal it, what can I use to keep it flexible?

Should I use a primer before I paint, and then once I'm done should I seal it...I dont want the paint to come off or crack...but it needs to stay flexible to sew with and use as a purse..

2 options. Buy fabric paint, or use any type you have and add "fabric medium" Both are available in craf stores.
