The wedding veil is a staple of tradition. Historically, veils were worn to protect brides from evil spirits. Now, they're simply worn to make you look especially gorgeous. Wedding veils are a tradition worth preserving. After your gown, your wedding veil is the top defining aspect of your appearance on your wedding day. Here are some tips to help you choose the right veil.

The Dress

Naturally, you want a wedding veil that complements your dress. First, consider the main elements of your dress. Does it have a heavily-beaded bodice, or maybe a full, tulle skirt? Regardless, you'll want to choose a veil that doesn't obscure your main detail points on the gown. You definitely don't want to conceal all those incredible flourishes. Otherwise, what's the point of selecting a dress with such finery?

The Body

A great veil can help correct any personal concerns with body shape. Short women can elongate their look by wearing veils that are no longer than waist height. If you have a large stomach or bust, try a fingertip-length or longer veil. This will help stretch out your look. Women with fuller figures might opt for narrow single-tiered veils, in order to limit adding extra volume to their looks. Pear shaped? Try a veil no lower than waist level. Those that end at shoulder level are a great choice here, as well.
