Anti Virus Producers Kaspersky has been granted a patent for 'a hardware-based anti-virus system

Security vendor Kaspersky has been granted a patent for 'a hardware-based anti-virus system that effectively combats rootkits .The idea is to install the device between the hard disk or SSD and the motherboard, where it can read data streaming to and from the disk, and even block writes to the disk and prevent the storage of detected malicious code The device, which can work in tandem with   software re-based tools, enables it, in Kaspersky's words, to 'effectively combat malicious programs that elevate their privileges in the system, dangerous malware such as rootkits.' While the initial concept is for a physical device, Kaspersky notes that it would make sense if future versions were integrated with either the drive controller or the SATA bus. The patent's author, Oleg Zaitsev, says the concept offers 'a distinct advantage over conventional AV solutions because it monitors all attempts to access a memory device while remaining inaccessible to malware,' and provides an update mechanism for virus signatures that is 'protected from malicious code and faulty records during updates'. While hardware-based virus protection isn't new, the idea of integrating it closely with the PC is. Performance obsessive's will be pleased that the device has its own processor and RAM. However, the idea of independent hardware-based anti-virus may worry some, especially if it can't be disabled without removing the device.

how do i confirm an idea for a patent?

i have an idea that i think is unique and i can't patent the idea at the moment and so i was wondering how can i Signature my idea so that i can prove i thought of the idea on this date?

Depends whether you are in the USA or in the Rest of the World...the US is the only place where 'first-to-invent' is the basis of getting a patent rather than first to apply.

If you put the idea into an envelope and then send it to yourself by recorded delivery and don't open it, that is proof of copywrite but that doesn't apply to inventions.....so the 'proof' will not protect the invention.
