Any experiences with bamboo clothing?

I heard it is supposed to be very absorbant, stays fresh for longer even with socks cos of it being antimicrobial, keeps cool during summer but surprisingly warm during winter due to the structure of the fibres, etc. They ar also supposed to be very soft like silk, but very durable. They are a bit more expensive but if it is true it must be worth buying. I would like to get reviews from as many people as possible. They are sustainable and oeko tex certified which means neither pandas or the environment are affected. Thanks.

There's a lot of hype surrounding bamboo sourced textiles and it's hard to differentiate the hype from the reality. Bamboo is quite interesting as it relates to fabric and it has a questionable past and present. How so? Because bamboo simply can't be spun into yarn and fabric on it's own. it's not like silk, linen, hemp, sisal or seagrass, where the fibers are soaked, dried and spun into thread. Nor is it like cotton, wool or animal fibers where you pluck the fibers from nature and spin them. Bamboo is a RAYON fabric, meaning the plant is chemically processed, extruded, spun and woven. Rayon also comes from tree cellulose. So in that way Bamboo is better because it takes 50 years less to grow a large bamboo plant than it does a tree and bamboo grows back far faster than a tree and takes fewer pesticides less fertilizer than a commercially farmed tree. However rayon processing is still a toxic process that uses lots of chemicals. All rayons, whether they are sourced from bamboo or not have the same basic properties of absorbency, being cool in the summer and warm in the winter, silk like, durable, etc. The anti microbial claim has not yet been properly proven however if bamboo has this property then all rayons will have this property.

Price of rayons has less to do with source of the raw material and more to do with the chemical process used to extract the cellulose and process it into fibers. Cupro-rayons are finer higher quality fabrics and more expensive.

I have used bamboo based rayons in my sportwear line, especially the t-shirt knits. They have a springy feel to them and when they drape they are a bit bouncy. not sure how else to describe it. They look more luxe than cotton t-shirt knit and i can make fancy embellished t's with them. People don't mind paying extra for bamboo sourced rayon, and I do like the fabric better than ordinary rayon knits.

Textile rules are changing soon all bamboo will be labelled as "rayon" which is what the fabric really is. Some sources have said that they will label their rayon (bamboo sourced) to differentiate it from tree sourced rayon. I would like to see the two differentiated, I would rather buy bamboo sourced rayon as bamboo plants replace themselves much faster than trees.
