Does Reverse Osmosis Remove Pharmaceuticals from Water – Find Our Now

Does reverse osmosis remove pharmaceuticals from water? Well, very crisply and shortly answer is no, reverse osmosis water purifiers do not remove pharmaceuticals from water or I should rephrase my sentence and say, reverse osmosis based water filters are not designed to remove pharmaceuticals in water supply. This just cannot do it.

Let us understand why does not reverse osmosis removes pharmaceuticals from water. The answer lies in the design of RO filters. They consist of a semi-permeable porous membrane through which water is forced to pass through and pure water is collected at the other end of this porous membrane.

These water purifiers remove things based on their molecular size. The molecules that are smaller than size of pores in the porous layer pass through while the bigger molecules are detained on this layer. This means that RO based water filters can remove things only that are bigger than the size of semi-permeable layer.

You will be surprised to know that the molecular size of pharmaceuticals, pesticides and other synthetic chemicals that are present in water is smaller than the size of water. This is the reason; these impurities molecules pass through the RO layer along with water, without any trouble. Consumption of this impure water is hazardous to health.

Additionally, the water collected at the other end of RO layer is not good for health. This is because water naturally contains many minerals like calcium, potassium, magnesium, etc., which are required for the proper growth and development of the body. Since, the size of these essential minerals is quite large, they are seized on the RO layer and the resultant water is mineral free. The consumption of this de-mineralized water could result in mineral and vitamin deficiency in the body and can have detrimental effect on the bones and teeth.

Now that you know that water filters based on reverse osmosis do not remove pharmaceuticals from water; instead they stripe away all the nutritional value from the water; your next step should be to spend some more time on the internet and put this information to test.

Look for water filtration systems that are based on latest technology like carbon filtration and ion exchange. This purifier, unlike reverse osmosis based filters not only does remove pharmaceuticals from water but also retain its nutritional values. Ideas for redesigning a teen girl room?

I am thinking about redesigning my room to a light blue and light green paint and maybe a bit of brown, i don't know. But I already found a bedding.
