Using Tote Bags for Arts and Crafts Projects

My mother introduced me to scrapbooking and scrapbooks when I was a child. She showed me her high school scrapbook and I immediately took a liking to it. So even in my earlier years I had put in tremendous effort just to make my own scrapbook. Today I'm a few levels 'upgraded' I guess, since I order most of my scrapbooking stuff and materials online. Until a few weeks ago though, I couldn't take my crafts and equipment with me in a way I liked, I had to stuff them all in a handbag that neither held them properly nor carried with the least bit of style. So I was thrilled when I found out about using bags in arts & crafts.

First off, totes are quite useful, and they're everywhere. My mom uses them, my friends use them, everyone does. So toting one around didn't make you stick out like a sore thumb. Plus, there are great designs to choose from, just check it out online and you'll see. But it gets better, totes can be styled and customized. I saw a bunch of promotional tote bags being delivered somewhere, and I thought, why not have my own personalized bag? I was already window shopping for great totes for scrapbooking by then and so I added another factor to my ideal tote bag: chic, stylish, not-too-girl-but-cute, and lastly, customizable. See most of the totes being sold online already have prints on them, especially those intended for arts & crafts. So I had to put in some effort to find one that's already stylish, but allows for further personalization.

But wait, you probably want to know why you should go for using tote bags in arts & crafts and not other bags. Well, bags are practical, and those made for arts & crafts are tailor-suited to particular arts & crafts. For example, my mom is into cross-stitching now and she has her own bag for her cross-stitching paraphernalia. These bags have designs and pockets and enclosures especially made for a particular craft. The bags made for scrapbooking I've been eyeing are great too. Some of them have the option for extra compartments, in case I need to bring extra stuff. I've even looked at huge bags that have reinforced undersides and wheels to help carry a heavy load. Of course, scrapbooking doesn't require that much...scrap. Besides, lugging luggage around isn't fashionable, nor is it practical. It's just encouraging to know they're available.

The best part is, most of these bags can carry the equipment and paraphernalia used for certain arts & crafts the right way. When I used a handbag to carry my scrapbooking stuff I always ended up loosing some or having to do with wrinkled and damaged scrap. From what I've seen and read, that won't happen when using totes for arts & crafts.
