Just about everyone has halitosis once in a while. keeping your breath fresh is just common courtesy. It's completely unacceptable to subject others to anything less, especially if you share a cubicle with them. When I wake up each day, the one thing I most to try and avoid is a morning bad breath. Simply put, that means unless I take some simple steps to avoid bad breath my breath is likely to smell when I first wake up in the morning. 8 Tips and suggestion to prevent foul breath!

1. You can keep one of those travel-sized bottles of Listerine in your purse or in your desk. Rinsing your mouth after lunch will do wonders and can even make you feel refreshed and perky.

2. Choices in diet are the top cause of bad breath, but bad breath caused by eating is temporary. The remedy for garlic breath, or onion breath is a quick rinse of your mouth with clean water. A few of the volatile oils from onion or garlic can survive digestion to be exhaled by the lungs, but these are less than 5% of all the odor causing compounds in this natural source of stinky breath.

3. I like to eat onion and garlic, in moderation. I know these foods cause bad breath, but I chew a little parsley after eating garlic. I think it helps, although I cannot of course always tell if others standing close to me can smell my breath.

4. Get yourself a tongue cleaner. Cleaning your tongue is also a good way to get rid of bad breath permanently. Your tongue can be a host of bacteria that cause the bad smell, thus make sure you also regularly clean your tongue as you brush your teeth. Also make sure to brush the roof of your mouth as this can also be a host to the odor-causing bacteria in the mouth.

5. Chewing sugarless gum keeps saliva flowing and sometimes can cure bad breath. Sugarless gum flavored with xylitol can also prevent ear infections in both children and adults.

6. If you're one of those hippie health people who wants to be sure additives and other chems aren't going into your mouth, this is the way to go. You can pick up fresh mint from most health food shops. Take a bit to work and munch on it throughout the day.

7. I practice a variation of the yoga technique called the cleansing breath, where I breathe out for as long as possible after breathing in. I believe it helps in bad breath prevention. This is one of the best bad breath cure.

8. Drink plenty of water everyday. Water flushes out food particles and bacteria off your mouth, thereby helping you clean your mouth and prevent bad smelling breath.
